In
May of 1998, I did an eight day sun-rise meditation. Each day my task
was to be present with my experience and chart the experience with charcoal
on paper. What I ended up with were maps of phenomena: birds flights
and songs, garbage truck sounds, shifting shadows, body sensations,
images from the environment (clouds, hills, the sun, etc.).
I continued
these drawings throughout 1998 as a practice of being present. Creating
maps of the moment.
In "Almost
There" I performed this process as an action in front of an audience.
Again my interest was this question of presence.
